Your Best Friend Always With You

A kitty, laying on a man's arm.

‘Miguel was a very special boy. He died just before his 18th birthday. I was with him for that whole time, even longer than me and my husband’s marriage. I got him and his sister Gabriel, who is still with us, about one year after I moved to Los Angeles from Japan all by myself for a job. I had cats in Japan for almost 17 years. I wanted to take him with me but was afraid that the long flight would not be good for him. After getting Miguel and Gabriel, we moved so many times. From LA to San Diego, then back to LA and then NY, and came back to LA again, then got married and moved to our current house. My cats were my guardian angels.’

A kitty, looking up at the camera.

‘Miguel liked to sleep on my arms and required petting him until he fell asleep. When I stopped he slapped or nailed my face. Also, he loved being on my lap when I sat down on the stairs. Somehow, he loved that. When he passed away, we were not at home. We knew something was wrong but it was too late. I think he was waiting for us to leave the house and didn’t want to show his last moment. I believe he will come back soon again… until that, this ring will protect me.’
